Functie:

The Product Manager is responsible for developing and managing a sustainable and innovative product portfolio in one of the fields of business of our client. He/she signals, develops and manages (new) product market combinations and takes ownership of as well the commercial as the technical development of the product portfolio. 

The Product Manager leads product development projects through the Stage-Gate process of development. He/she ensures alignment between the internal organization and (lead) customers and makes sure new developments are aligned with market needs. 

The Product Manager is responsible for Product Portfolio Management within one or more product ranges. He/she obtains the right number of (product) development projects to achieve balance between pipeline resource demands and available resources, with a sharp eye for the pipeline’s potential future value. The Product Manager analyses, listens, processes and acts in a service oriented manner. He/she makes sure all parties stay connected and aboard. 

He/she develops strong understanding of business drivers, like market context, consumer needs, competitive environment, USP and added value possibilities. With great influencing and persuasion skills, he/she is able to keep the flow in developments, facilitates when needed and makes sure that steps in the process are made accurately and right. He/she has a servient attitude, is able to connect with all parties and fulfills needs in order to achieve goals.  

He/she is responsible for efficient and effective communications, reports on progress to main stakeholders and escalates when needed. With deep understanding of client processes, he/she keeps an eye on developments; not only current but also upcoming phases and sensors opportunities in the form of new product applications. 

Profiel:
  • Academic degree (preferably technical) or equivalent by working experience 
  • At least five years of relevant experience:
    - Multinational experience – excellent understanding of dynamics within large corporations / organizations (understands DMU processes)
    - Product management / project management
    - Key Account Management / Strategic purchasing
  • Experience with Product Portfolio Management
  • Proven technical affinity
  • Strong commercial skills
  • Self-starter with strong understanding of client processes (FMCG) and their buying reasons
  • Strong and open communicator - experienced in working & communicating across disciplines
  • Creative, innovative and entrepreneurial attitude in seeking solutions and driving the business
  • High energy, can-do attitude
  • Precise, accurate and structured in working
  • Solid financial insights, able to read and understand business cases 
  • Fluent in English
